Europe Day Celebrations 2009

During the Milan Summit in 1985, EU leaders decided to celebrate 9 May as Europe Day. Today, Europe Day is an annual celebration of the diversity of cultures within Europe and provides an opportunity to come together and to learn more about the European Union. Throughout Europe, 9 May is recognised as 'Europe Day' and marks the founding of the European Union. Each year, European nations hold special events to celebrate their European identity. In Singapore, the celebration was held at the Singapore Art Museum with Diplomats from most parts of the world attending.
